Keith Haring

Keith Haring who sadly died in 1990 was known for his iconic figures and symbols, which he called icons. Haring’s style was bright, vibrant and used a range of imagery. He started out using his trademark signature style in chalk on unused advertising spaces in the subway stations of New York City. In the 1980’s Haring had joined the city’s art scene with the likes of Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat which catapulted his career. His aim was always to keep art accessible to everyone, devoting much of his time to public works which often carried social messages. His art is seen in major museums and galleries across the world including The Museum of Modern Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
