Mr. Brainwash Elvis Presley “Playing Cowboy” eight colour screen print, circa 2020
By Thierry Guetta aka Mr. Brainwash
Mr. Brainwash pays tribute to Elvis Presley on his 85th Birthday with an iconic, reinvented image of Elvis from the 1960 movie “Flaming Star”.
This could also be a celebration of youth in America, with three young boys dressed up, “Playing Cowboy”, on a city street and coming upon a double image of Elvis stencilled on a wall. The young cowboy in the middle is ready to add his own touch to the wall, as the wide tip markers in his back pocket might suggest. Perhaps it was he who scribbled “I Love You” above Elvis’ head.
About Mr Brainwash
Mr. Brainwash, the alter-ego of Thierry Guetta a favourite of Indelible Fine Art, is a French-born street artist. Known for his use of images from history, popular culture, and art history he believes that artwork is a medium to promote positivity, freedom, and love. Pushing the boundaries of contemporary art, he claims ‘Art has no rules. There’s no manual’. He is known for creating mass spectacles to promote and display his art, including his first exhibition ‘Life is Beautiful’ which attracted over 50,000 visitors. His rise to fame was documented in the Banksy-directed film Exit Through the Gift Shop. At one time it was speculated that perhaps this “crazy” French amateur videographer, Thierry Guetta, was in-fact the real identification of Banksy due to his ties to the elusive street artist. However, throughout the last decade after selling millions of pounds worth of artwork and having his artwork exhibited worldwide in front of his Global fan base, Mr Brainwash has evidently become a bona fide Artist. Some of his most high-profiled fans consist of the Obamas, the Kardashians, the Pope and our very own Joseph Lewis.
